A Century Without Love
Description
The central theme of the playwright’s drama A Century Without Love revolves around family, marriage, and the resilience of true love between a man and a woman in the face of life’s trials. At the core of the play lies a pressing issue - the fate of the new generation, both present and future.
The main characters are our contemporaries: Kairbay, a 47-year-old Doctor of Science and professor, and Farida, a 43-year-old Candidate of Science. They fell in love at a young age and built a family together, raising four children, the youngest of whom, Zhuldyz, is a high school student. Despite their stable and prosperous life, a dramatic conflict arises when Kairbay, longing for a son, becomes involved with a young woman named Nazikesh. When she appears at their home, pregnant with his child, Kairbay is forced to leave his family. However, after the birth, it turns out to be a girl rather than the desired son. Living with Nazikesh proves difficult for him.
At the height of the emotional turmoil, Kairbay and Farida reunite. Realizing she cannot win Kairbay’s heart, Nazikesh brings the infant to Farida and departs for another life. In a touching moment, Zhuldyz warmly embraces her baby sister, comforting her with kindness and love.
