A piece of gift paper. German theatre
Description
Time grinds historical events and facts.
What once seemed obvious and unchangeable, today raises questions and gives rise to a host of interpretations. That is why it is so important to hear the voice of eyewitnesses and participants of historical events through the decades.
The author of the play, Erika Mitterer, tells an incredibly kind and touching story (almost autobiographical) of a family caught in a whirlwind of events and problems.
The time of the play is the post-war fifties. But the questions that the characters solve are similar to those of people living in the 21st century. How to cope with mental traumas and loneliness? Where to find support in the era of global political and social changes? Why is it so difficult for people of different generations to find a common language?
The window of the kiosk where the main character lives - old, dusty, filled with unnecessary rubbish - is a symbol of the perception of life, a look at the past and the present. The characters will have to see, hear and understand each other through the layers of time and pain. To continue living, taking with them into the future the most important value of human relationships and love.
