«The Love for Three Oranges» by C. Gozzi
Prince Tartaglia suffers from a hypochondriacal illness that can only be cured by laughter. He is surrounded by round dances, dancing and fooling around, but all in vain. His father, King Silvio, is desperately trying to preserve the succession to the throne, on which his niece Clarice is counting heavily, making every possible effort to ensure that the illness leads the Prince to his grave. Weaving a web of intrigue, Clarice enlists the help of the powerful Fairy Morgana. It is up to the dexterous jester Truffaldino to counter these intrigues. However, the Fairy Morgana manages to put a spell on the Prince: only the solution to the mystery of the three oranges can break it.
