The Tiger Mountains tour is one of the most fascinating and beautiful places. These mountains are located between the Ili River and the Altyn-Emel ridge. They got their name because of their color. They were formed by the action of two frozen lavas. Currently, these lavas are inactive.
The Tiger Mountains have a geographical name - the Dolantau Mountains, which stretch from southwest to northeast. The length of the mountains in this direction is just over 16 kilometers, the height above sea level is 1109 meters. In the northeast, these mountains are bounded by the Borokhudzir River and the Zharkent-Arasan sanatorium.
The Dolnatau Mountains are located in the Panfilov district of the Almaty region. On the southwestern side, the mountains are bounded by the Koktal – Saryozek highway. The dominant height of the Dolantau Mountains is 1800 meters above sea level.
On the northwestern side of the Dolantau Mountains there is a small intermountain depression, which gradually passes into the Ortatau Mountains. The Dolantau mountains are composed of Cretaceous deposits of various colors.
The mountains are interesting and picturesque with landscapes of rare beauty. The age of the rock deposits is 60-70 million years. Here you can find fossil flora, representatives of subtropical forms of ancient plants.
