ALZHIR

The age darkened without warning. Innocent people were accused without cause, and the nation’s finest sons fell victim to mass repression. Before long, their families - wives and children - were swept into the storm as well. Bound for torment in sealed wagons, countless shattered lives converged in one desolate place on Kazakh soil - behind the barbed wire of a prison. There, in the wide steppe, ALZHIR - the Akmolinsk Camp for the Wives of Traitors of the Motherland - rose like a living hell. But even in the face of cruelty and betrayal, the indomitable spirit of the women endured. Though broken in body, their dignity remains unshaken. They preserved their humanity and upheld their honour, refusing to let oppression steal their soul. ALZHIR Requiem tells the story of these women - a tribute to their strength, their sorrow, and their unwavering fight for life amidst the shadows of Stalin’s terror and the brutality of blind ideology.
