The Caucasian Niece (КАТМК)

The operetta «The Caucasian Niece» has another title - «Don't Hide Your Smile». The work was written in 1969. It can be rightfully attributed to the retro style, yet it looks and sounds fresh and modern thanks to many components: from the music to the plot. The operetta ‘The Caucasian Niece’ is a light, humorous musical comedy in which comic misunderstandings and unwitting misconceptions of the actors play an important role. The irony here is quite good-natured, and the lyrics are light and transparent. The central satirical character, the devious old man Biberly, is portrayed not without some sympathy, although his life position - the desire to settle well at the expense of others - is defeated and condemned. Lala and Arif's love story is beautiful, bringing many unusually lyrical moments to the story.
