Lazgi. Dance of Soul and Love
The National Ballet of Uzbekistan, supported by the Uzbekistan Culture and Art Development Foundation, presents the premiere of the ballet “Lazgi. Dance of Soul and Love” to Kazakhstani audiences.
This inspiring production is dedicated to the ancient folk dance lazgi, recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage. With a history spanning 3,000 years, lazgi reflects the wisdom and spirit of folk traditions. Its intricate movements, unique style and dynamic energy make this dance a cultural phenomenon.
The ballet premiered in Tashkent in 2021, instantly winning public acclaim and becoming a sensation. Its first international premiere took place at Dubai Opera, followed by performances in Istanbul, Bursa (Turkey), Dortmund (Germany), Paris (France), St. Petersburg and Moscow (Russia). In 2024, the production was showcased in Beijing (China), Baku (Azerbaijan), as well as London (United Kingdom).
The ballet’s storyline takes audiences back in time, narrating a tale of love for dance and life that began thousands of years ago during the era of caravans crossing Central Asia along the Great Silk Road.
Unique dance movements seamlessly blend ancient traditions with elements of classical ballet. Mesmerizing folk instruments, a captivating lighting score, cutting-edge stage technologies and the masterful performance of the National Ballet of Uzbekistan promise an unforgettable experience.
