INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL “OPERALIA”

Gaetano Donizetti

L'elisir d'amore

Opera in two acts

Performed in Italian

(with synchronized Kazakh and Russian supertitles)

The Astana Opera House will present one of the most famous operas by Gaetano Donizetti – L'elisir d'amore.

This brilliant comic opera is full of the most beautiful melodies. It is no coincidence that it has been keeping the attention of listeners for over 150 years, and some arias have entered the golden fund of opera classics.

L'elisir d'amore was written in just two weeks, and the success at the premiere at the Teatro della Canobbiana in Milan surprised the composer himself, who did not expect to have composed a masterpiece.

L'elisir d'amore combines the traditions of the old opera buffa and classic romantic melodrama (it is no coincidence that Nemorino's romanza "Una furtiva lagrima ..." became the most famous number of the opera).

In the capital's theatre, the audience will see this performance staged by conductor Alan Buribayev and French director Arnaud Bernard. Italian masters Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino acted as set and costume designers. The soloists underwent a vocal preparation for this opera with an experienced coach Anatoly Gusev (Italy). The excellent chorus of the Astana Opera House (Chorus Master – Yerzhan Dautov) will also be the main character in the comic masterpiece by G.Donizetti.
