Long 12 years passed from the beginning of construction in 1940 to the official opening of the House of Culture in Karaganda in 1952. The reason for this was the Great Patriotic War and the difficult post-war years. But when it opened, it immediately became a center of creative life of the city and remains so to this day.

What does the Miners' Palace of Culture look like?

The monumental structure has long been considered the largest in the region. Its total area is 70 thousand square meters and consists of as if 3 parts:

• theatrical complex;
• the 2nd foyer;
• utility rooms.

The auditorium can accommodate about 1000 people, and the SaryZhaylau cinema, which is located in its right wing, has a capacity for 236 seats.

The exterior decoration of the building clearly reflects the period in which it was built. The outer decoration in the base is made of granite and stone plaster, while the upper beam ceiling is crowned by sculptures of a builder, a shepherd with a lamb, an akyne, a warrior, a collective farmer and a miner. Inside the foyer decor is a ganche wall with dancers' silhouettes, paintings, marble stairs, crystal chandeliers.

For more than half a century of history, various events have happened to it. After gaining independence, it was renamed the Palace.

Half a century of performances

For all its activities, the Miners' Palace of Culture has shown thousands of performances to Karaganda spectators. These were performances of domestic and touring music bands, festivities and much more. Now, on its stage there are performances, entertainers and stand-ups. For example, the Picnic, Nadezhda Meicher, KniaZZ, Spiritual Seasons groups have performed here, and this confirms that the Miners' Palace of Culture remains on the wave and in the thick of entertainment events.
