Burenushka

«Burenushka» is an epic pentalogy by Tansulpan Garipova, a monumental novel woven with the events of the 20th century, told through the story of a single village - Tiryakly.

The stage production is based on three parts of the novel and centres around the Muratov family’s fate, unfolding during the times of revolution, collectivisation, and later, World War II. The Bashkir nobles Dingezkhan and Barsynbika face tragic destinies: forced to hide in Kara Tiryakly under false names, they carry the burden of a curse. Once, as one of those opposing the country’s upheaval, Dingezkhan commits a crime - and now a terrible ancestral curse threatens to wipe out his entire lineage.

«Can an ordinary person resist their fate?» This question becomes the driving force of Barsynbika’s struggle for the future of her children - Gulbanu and Ikhsanbay.
